I’ve been GPU mining for about 6 months now and recently found a good deal on an antminer T9 that I picked up. I tried setting it up and under the hardware section I get a “socket connection failure” fault. I believe the miner hasn’t been connected since 2017. I’ve read that updating firmware may help but I haven’t had time to mess with it. I’m going to try tonight to see if I can get it to work but if anyone has any suggestions that would be appreciated.

How long did you leave it running? As my S9 SE takes about 6 minutes before it will actually connect to the pools, could be the same thing with yours

I think you can also get firmware for your model being the T9 11.5 model.

I use the MskMiner firmware direct since only one dev fee, or you can get it from Hive as well but you will get hit with 2 dev fees, but you can then monitor it and set the tuning directly in there.

https://mskminer.com/en/

https://hiveos.farm/asic/t9/

allows you tune and get better watts/TH. and I've found my S9 Runs cooler as well.

Also which pool are you trying to connect to, did you see my post about the pool I use for mine?

Thanks for the reply! I believe it was the pool I was trying to use, it connects to the default pool when I reset it. I ran into the issue now of it going into overheat protection after about 10 mins of mining. I’m hoping it’s a firmware issue. I’m going to try and install the MsKminer firmware and see if that fixes the issue. After I install that I’ll look into the pools you suggested. Thanks for the info Uncle D!
yeah I didn't think of saying that to double check that the URL and Worker name were correct, I've made a mistake with this before, two letters wrong way around in the url somehow oppps lol
How'd you go bro all sorted and working good now?

I haven’t had a chance to mess with it this week, I should have some time tomorrow to sit down and try to get it all sorted. I looked through the link you posted and I saw firmware for the t9+ but not the regular t9.
yeah I did a little further looking, so I think you're right that that tuning firmware won't be an option unfortunately.

Here's some links direct to Bitmain, hopefully you get it all sorted out.

Update: because I’m a computer idiot, it took me hours up update the firmware. I kept trying to unzip the download folder when In reality that’s not needed. Just load the zipped folder onto the miner and it updates perfectly. After the update, the miner still goes into overheat protection and I couldn’t figure out why. I tore the thing apart, cleaned all the boards, put it back together, still over heats. Then trying to test it in the open air and not in the case, I could finally see that the exhaust fan was only spinning at 300rpm, and the intake was 6,000rpm. I believe that’s my problem, so I’m going to pick up a new fan this morning and pray everything goes well. This is a lot more frustrating than GPU mining but should be worth it in the end Smile
Update to the update: everything has been running smoothly for the last 3 hours. No errors, no overheating. Hopefully someone can find this helpful in the future
